Have you heard the exciting news? Cranberry Public Library (CPL), the township’s most used asset, has been chosen by the Cranberry Township Community Chest (CTCC) to be the 2019 Project of the Year! We’re calling it Forge Ahead: Library Makeover, in tribute to the building’s origins as the Perry Forge.

The highlight of the project is creating an inclusive makerspace within the library. The community has already shown enthusiastic support. We had a huge turnout at a recent Township Manager’s Coffee. The excitement was unmistakable! We saw the creativity of our community come alive; from a 10-year-old maker programming fighting robots to a hobbyist making prosthetic hands!

The addition of a makerspace, along with hosting the inaugural Cranberry Township Mini Maker Faire, marries perfectly with the library’s vision of being an accessible and exceptional center for information, inspiration, and enrichment. Cranberry Library is honored to be the focus of this exciting, forward thinking community project. And, we look forward to “making,” in all of its many forms, with everyone!
